As promised, a reading of my soon-to-be-published and award winning piece “Coconuts.” Here’s the story If you wish to read along with the audio (which I recommend).
(Me reading my recent piece “Covering The Pain,” which was featured in #Poetry. *sorry about the background noise, my microphone sucks).
Covering The Pain
Gina’s relief comes when crimson red
Trickles down her arms.
She holds a curved blade
The cold surface taunts her.
Her finger traces the edge,
A ghost forever haunting her
Day after day.
Her arms tremble,
Tender veins shout at her,
Telling her to stop.
Her arms begin to cry
And rust fills her nostrils.
Stains on the floor.
Drip,
Drip,
Drip.
Oh what a trip,
Traces of pain going down the drain.
Bracelets, jackets,
Long sleeved shirts.
Covering the pain
Of this emotional rain.
